Resolution of June 2, 2021 No. 855

More than 21 billion rubles will be invested in the creation of an offshore transshipment complex of liquefied natural gas in the Bechevinskaya Bay (Kamchatka Territory). This resolution was approved by the Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

From the opening remarks by Mikhail Mishustin at an operational meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers, June 7, 2021

The funds will be directed to the construction of an approach channel to the seaport, where transshipment will be carried out. The length of the structure is over 6 km. It is planned to start using it in 2023. After commissioning, the facility will remain in federal ownership.

The complex in the Bechevinskaya Bay is intended for transshipment of LNG from ice-class LNG carriers sailing from the Gulf of Ob region to LNG carriers without ice reinforcement. The latter, in turn, will deliver gas to consumers in the Asia-Pacific region. Part of the gas will go to meet the communal needs of the Kamchatka Territory.

The new terminal is expected to handle around 21.7 million tonnes of LNG annually.

Issues related to the construction of the terminal were discussed during working trip of Mikhail Mishustin to the Far East. Following its results, the Prime Minister instructed to conclude government contracts necessary for the implementation of the project. The decision to allocate funds was announced by Mikhail Mishustin during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers on June 7.

The launch of the terminal will make it possible to diversify the supply of Russian LNG, increase cargo turnover in the water area of the Northern Sea Route, and also meet the needs of the Kamchatka Territory in blue fuel.
