It is planned to build a sports cluster in Horoshevo-Mnevniki, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev.
“One of the largest sports clusters in Moscow will appear in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain. In total, more than 500 thousand square meters of sports facilities for various purposes are planned to be built here,” he said.
Two large arenas are going to be built on the territory of the sports cluster – a rugby stadium with an area of almost 130 thousand square meters and a multifunctional CSKA sports center with an area of about 220 thousand square meters.
According to Andrei Bochkarev, a large surfing park, a water sports center with a deep-sea pool, a curling center, an ice arena of Tatiana Navka and a professional hockey academy Aleksanra Ovechkin with a children’s school, a swimming pool, physical training and rehabilitation centers will also open there.
In addition, it is planned to build an athletics arena, an extreme sports center, a skate park, a trampoline jumping center, a sports school and an early physical development center.
“There will also be areas for outdoor sports: several rowing bases, a volleyball, basketball and workout area, outdoor tennis and beach sports grounds,” added Andrei Bochkarev.
Earlier, he noted that the opening of the Mnevniki station of the western section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the metro is one of the drivers for the further development of the territory of the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain. The Mnevniki station is one of the key road transport facilities of the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain along with the Terekhovo BCL station under construction and the projected road network. Roads and new metro stations will improve the transport accessibility of this territory and allow it to be integrated into the unified fabric of the city. “
