Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
Glad to see you again, albeit online. We met two years ago in St. Petersburg as part of your participation in the next International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
We have just signed a historic document – the Treaty on the Basics of Relations between the Russian Federation and Antigua and Barbuda… This agreement creates an additional foundation in the development of our relations following the document we signed in June 2019 on the abolition of visa formalities for travel by citizens of Russia and Antigua and Barbuda. In other words, we now have a very solid foundation both for the development of interstate relations in the political, trade, economic and other fields, and for the maximum development of contacts between our citizens, including tourist, educational and other exchanges.
I am confident that now efforts to make our relations as broad as possible will acquire additional dynamism and thereby underline the importance of Antigua and Barbuda for Russia in the Caribbean subregion and the role of the Russian Federation for Antigua and Barbuda in the development of your external relations.
Are aimed at further strengthening interaction in the field of emergency response, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. We will build up educational, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, cooperation in the field of personnel training, both through the diplomatic line and for law enforcement agencies.
We are committed to promoting joint economic initiatives and investment projects.
I would like to note the closeness of our positions on key issues of the regional and global agenda, our common commitment to multilateral principles in world affairs, the central role UN and compliance with international law.
Separately, I would like to note the fact that since July this year, the presidency of Caribbean Community (CARICOM)with whom we have established contacts. We want to deepen them. I hope that under your chairmanship we will be able to promote these relations in various directions.
I would also like to note the productive work of the Honorary Consul of Antigua and Barbuda in Russia, J. Hansen, who is present here. I am glad to welcome him. We hope that our friends from Antigua and Barbuda will gradually lead the case towards the accreditation of a full-fledged ambassador to the Russian Federation.
For our part, we would like to thank the new Ambassador of the Russian Federation S.S. Petrovich for the prompt issuance of an agreman, who will soon start working at Jamaica and will definitely visit your country to present his credentials.
In conclusion, I would like to congratulate you on the successful implementation of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19… Your country is one of the leading countries in the Caribbean in terms of the percentage of vaccinated people.
We made the first deliveries to the Russian Sputnik V vaccines to your country. We know that in April you personally met this cargo at the airport, Mr. Prime Minister. We are ready to continue this cooperation.
Antigua and Barbuda celebrates 40 years of independence in November. I wish you to completely get rid of the coronavirus by this date and achieve success in other areas of your responsible work.
