Today, in accordance with the plans for combat training in the summer period of training in the water area of ​​the Barents Sea, the ship groupings of the Northern Fleet have begun to conduct a bilateral test tactical exercise to protect the Arctic borders of the Russian Federation from threats from sea areas.

Servicemen of coastal formations, more than 20 warships and submarines, about 10 aircraft and helicopters will be involved in various stages of the exercise, which will take place for several days under the general direction of Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev.

During the exercise, it is planned to assess the practical skills of staff officers in managing forces, to work out a number of standards and to perform combat exercises with the actual use of weapons as part of groupings of heterogeneous forces.

Currently, the preparatory stage of the exercise has started. Warships and submarines of the Northern Fleet entered the Barents Sea to deploy them in training ranges. During this stage, headquarters and forces are preparing to perform tasks within the framework of the exercise.

At various stages of the exercise, homogeneous and heterogeneous tactical groups will practice joint actions, interact with aviation, solve tasks for protecting and defending a detachment of warships from imaginary enemy submarines and various air weapons, and counteract enemy ship groupings.

The main and final stage of the exercise will be the conduct of live firing by the crews of the ships of the grouping of dissimilar forces.
