Since May 25, the combined detachment of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Kaliningrad region has been working on demining a self-propelled dry-cargo barge. Rescuers discovered and raised to the surface more than 4.5 thousand explosive objects. These are mainly artillery shells, as well as faust cartridges and mortar mines.

The combined detachment, which included specialists from the Leader Center, Noginsk and Nevsky rescue centers, as well as employees of the Kaliningrad search and rescue squad of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, carried out 114 descents with a total duration of more than 130 hours.

For the first time, the sunken barge was surveyed by divers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in 2010. It was found that tens of thousands of ammunition could be on board and in the immediate vicinity. Divers closely monitor the condition of the barge, take photos and videos, magnetometry of the underwater object, take water and soil samples.

In total, during the demining work, employees of the emergency department raised more than 12 thousand explosive objects to the surface.
