Pupils of the Murmansk branch of the Nakhimov Naval School (NVMU) began their summer naval practice aboard the large landing ship “Ivan Gren” of the amphibious assault ship brigade of the Northern Fleet.

For three days, the Nakhimovites will plunge into the daily organization of the ship service, get acquainted with the conditions of service and life of military sailors.

The ship’s crew prepared a number of theoretical and practical lessons for the children. The practice began with a detailed acquaintance with the ship and the study of the main issues of the daily organization of the service, safety measures while on the ship, the purpose of all its combat units.

On the first day of the Nakhimov’s stay on the ship, special attention was paid to the topic of survivability and rescue training. Naval sailors showed the children individual rescue equipment used on surface ships, diving and fire-fighting equipment.

During practical exercises, young defenders of the Fatherland worked out the use of a knapsack generator of high-expansion foam, designed to extinguish fires using a chemical jet or air-mechanical foam.

In the medical block, the Nakhimovites were presented with the means of providing medical assistance at sea, the guys trained in practice in providing first aid on the ship.

In accordance with the internship program, in the coming days, the pupils of the Murmansk branch of the NVMU will participate in in-ship exercises, and will also acquire practical skills in keeping a watch.
