On June 8, Russian-Turkish inter-ministerial consultations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey S.Onal were held in Moscow. On the Russian side, the consultations were attended by Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation S.V. Vershinin, A.V. Grushko and A.Yu. Rudenko.
A complex of issues of international assistance in resolving the Syrian, Nagorno-Karabakh, Palestinian-Israeli and other regional crises, political aspects of their settlement on the basis of international norms and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions were substantively considered. An exchange of views took place on additional measures aimed at eliminating hotbeds of tension in conflict zones, maintaining stable ceasefire regimes, as well as building up humanitarian assistance and the return of refugees through the coordination of efforts on multilateral platforms.
In the context of the discussion of the current situation in Transcaucasia, Ukraine and Central Asia, a mutual disposition was stated for further coordination of efforts in the interests of strengthening peace and stability in these regions. A high assessment was given to the activities of the Russian-Turkish Joint Center for Controlling the Ceasefire and All Military Operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Zone. It was agreed to continue working on unblocking economic and transport links in the Transcaucasus.
The Russian side emphasized the need for a balanced approach to the situation in southeastern Ukraine, the inadmissibility of supporting Kiev’s militaristic aspirations and various kinds of anti-Russian initiatives.
The participants in the consultations agreed on the importance of maintaining the high dynamics of the Russian-Turkish political dialogue, resuming, as the sanitary and epidemiological situation normalizes, close working contacts between the departments concerned and full-scale flights between Russia and Turkey.
It was agreed to continue discussing the entire range of bilateral ties. Of particular importance is the building up of cooperation in the field of combating the consequences of the spread of coronavirus infection, including the establishment of joint production of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in Turkey.
