A group of EMERCOM scientists using the Strela-P mobile diagnostic complex are assessing the seismic resistance of buildings in the Republics of Serbia and Croatia, where devastating natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes occurred in 2020. The analysis of the obtained data is currently underway.
The institute’s specialists have assessed the seismic resistance of five buildings in Serbian cities. Among them – the 5-storey building of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) “Russian House” in Belgrade, the buildings of the mayor’s offices in the cities of Uzice and Novy Sad, the theater in Krusevac and the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center in Nis. In total, more than 125 thousand cubic meters of buildings were examined.
The Strela-P mobile diagnostic complex was developed by scientists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Civil Defense and Emergencies. It includes about 30 measuring devices, which allow to efficiently process data obtained during dynamic tests for the stability of buildings and structures.
The unique design is equipped with sensors operating in a wide frequency range: from 0.1 to 400 Hz. This allows you to distinguish between vibrations of buildings of any quality and any degree of wear and tear – from brand new to those related to emergency funds, from high-rise buildings and industrial chimneys to low monolithic structures.
