Russian peacekeepers have begun to ensure the safety of local residents during agricultural work in the Martuni region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Humanitarian Response Center of the Russian peacekeeping contingent receives daily requests for security from residents of settlements located near the line of demarcation of the sides.

Thus, representatives of the Chartar village of the Martuni region appealed to the Humanitarian Response Center in order to ensure safety during work on agricultural fields.

“From now on and throughout the next week, we will ensure safety during agricultural work,” said Alexander Vasiliev, a representative of the Humanitarian Response Center.

Also, local residents create mineralized strips in order to prevent grass from falling, to protect fields and settlements from firemen.

“Thanks to the Russian wars that they came to protect us, people can work here, thank you very much for helping us,” said Khachik Khachatryan, a local resident of Chartar village.

In addition, Russian peacekeepers are working to clear the area from explosives. So, since November 23, 2020, engineering-sapper units of humanitarian demining in Nagorno-Karabakh have cleared 2,123 hectares of territory and more than 650 kilometers of roads from unexploded ordnance, found and neutralized 25,613 explosive objects.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation has been deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.
