The city provides grants and other financial assistance to restaurateurs. In addition, training is provided for businessmen, which helps to increase revenue and implement new projects.

Summer is a special time for owners of restaurants, cafes and small retail outlets. In the warm season, people spend more time outdoors and relax in parks. Therefore, restaurateurs and owners of retail outlets are expanding their business: they open summer cafes and verandas, organize trade in those places where the townspeople and guests of the capital like to walk and relax.

Moscow helps develop seasonal businesses. Entrepreneurs can count on subsidies as well as free training.

How to open summer cafes and a veranda

Summer verandas and cafes are pre-fabricated structures that open at restaurants. This year, more than 3.1 thousand such seasonal establishments have been included in the city’s accommodation scheme. You can get land for a summer cafe free of charge and without registration of land legal relations. Entrepreneurs only need to submit an application, as well as comply with all requirements for the installation of structures. Moreover, the city helps restaurateurs by providing subsidies.

“The restaurant business plays an important role in the life of the city, so the capital pays special attention to supporting this area. Restaurateurs can count on subsidies to offset some of their costs, such as buying equipment on credit or leasing, paying interest on loans, utility bills, or franchisor fees. The city also provides free educational support “, – said the head

Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development Alexey Fursin

Typical standards for summer cafes make it possible not to violate the architectural appearance of the city. So, if the building already has summer verandas, the restaurateur is obliged to observe the same architectural and artistic style – up to the use of the same materials and suitable color schemes.

In Moscow, the placement of summer cafes is monitored by specialists from the State Inspectorate for Real Estate. Much attention is paid to safety requirements, technical regulations, building codes and regulations. Summer cafes cannot be installed in the arches of buildings, on flower beds, parking lots, rooftops of residential buildings and their annexes. Another important rule: the area of the summer veranda should not be larger than the area of the institution under which it is located.

Verandas should be located at a distance of no more than five meters from the entrance to a stationary enterprise, at least 25 meters from the entrance to the metro, five meters from the underpass and 10 meters from stops. If a summer cafe is located on the ground or a lawn, it should be installed only on a technological deck. In addition, verandas should not interfere with the passage of pedestrians on the sidewalk.

To open a summer cafe, a company or an individual entrepreneur needs to submit an application and a package of documents to the prefecture of the corresponding district of Moscow. This can be done in person or through a proxy representative. Then the future summer cafe is included in the city layout. This service is provided free of charge, the term for consideration of the application is up to 30 working days. Projects for placing summer cafes are developed free of charge Moskomarchitecture.

How the city helps restaurateurs

The city supports restaurateurs, including financially – this is the most demanded type of assistance. In 2019, a subsidy for franchisees appeared, which allows entrepreneurs to compensate up to one million rubles.

The owner of the capital’s coffee shop Anton Kravchenko told how he was able to take advantage of the subsidy. He learned about financial support from the news, after which he turned to the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the city of Moscow.

“There were no special difficulties with the collection of documents, there were some difficulties with the provision of documents from the franchisor, but they were all resolved in working order. In fact, the subsidy helped to keep the business running, ”the entrepreneur said.

Another type of assistance is compensation for the cost of paying commission when using food delivery services. The amount of the subsidy is up to 700 thousand rubles. Applications are accepted online. You can find out more about this and other compensations on the website.

The city not only helps entrepreneurs with money, but also conducts training events. So, GBU “Small Business of Moscow”organizes free business accelerators. Thanks to one of them, restaurateur Roman Hartsev was able to implement new projects and increase revenue last year.

“Our team set ambitious goals to increase revenue by filling the establishment and increasing the average check. All objectives and indicators were achieved after passing the restaurant business accelerator. We doubled our revenue and opened a quiz bar. In addition, we will organize the delivery of business lunches to offices, and we also plan to attract new visitors through the conduct of intellectual games as a new format of leisure, ”said the businessman.

This year, the Small Business of Moscow State Budgetary Institution will hold an accelerator for representatives of the restaurant business. You can sign up for this and other courses on the website

How to trade in parks

Good profit in summer is brought not only by summer cafes, but also by outlets in parks and places where townspeople and tourists like to walk. Some of the most popular are Gorky Park, VDNKh, Sokolniki Park, Tsaritsyno, Kuzminki-Lyublino and Kolomenskoye museums.

The city offers entrepreneurs to rent non-stationary retail facilities: kiosks, stalls, mobile pavilions and vending machines. They sell food and drinks, including ice cream, sandwiches, sweets and pastries, hot corn. Non-stationary shopping facilities also include sports equipment rental stations.

Before starting such a trade, you need to choose the product and the location of the outlet in order to understand where you can get the maximum income. For example, water and juices are best sold near bike paths and main park scenes.

Non-stationary retail properties are leased for five years, but the period of placement may vary. Points with ice cream and soft drinks can be open from May 1 to October 1, and melons and gourds from August 1 to October 1.

Places for seasonal trade are distributed at electronic auctions, which are conducted by the Moscow Department of Competition Policy at the initiative of various city structures – from park administrations to the Moscow Department of Trade and Services. Examine parameters and choose a trading place can be found on the Moscow investment portal. Entrepreneurs can also entrust the selection to specialists and use the free service “Selection of city premises for business” on the website
