Servicemen of the missile formation of the combined arms army of the Eastern Military District (VVO), equipped with Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems (OTRK), began a combined march from the permanent deployment point in the Trans-Baikal Territory to the Kapustin Yar training ground stationed in the Astrakhan region, where a tactical exercise with missile strikes will take place. The units will redeploy in three military echelons over a distance of over 6 thousand kilometers.

Earlier, servicemen, with the participation of representatives of manufacturers, completed routine maintenance and prepared equipment for performing tasks as intended. Starting today, the calculations begin to work out the marching training and fulfill the standards for loading (unloading) large-sized equipment of the rocket complex, including launchers and transport-loading vehicles based on 8×8 tractors.

At the training ground, missilemen will have to improve their skills in deploying OTRK, loading missiles from transport and transport-loading vehicles, and at the final stage of the exercise – to perform combat launches of missiles at targets simulating objects of a conventional enemy.

Unmanned aerial vehicles will be used to control and assess the accuracy of hitting targets at the stage of combat launches.
