Today, in the Main Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the ceremony of consecration and the transfer of an icon with the image of the holy blessed prince Andrei Bogolyubsky – the patron saint of radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the RF Armed Forces and the icon “Chernobyl Savior”, painted by the Studio of military artists named after MB Grekov.

On June 24, 2020, by the decree of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the “heavenly patron” of the RCB troops for the defense of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was determined – the holy noble Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky.

According to chronicle legends, Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky was a talented statesman, defender of Russian lands, successor to the affairs of his father Yuri Dolgoruky and grandfather Vladimir Monomakh in the city and temple-building field. As a warrior and commander, he was always distinguished by courage and courage.

Throughout the history of our Fatherland, the Russian army has always been inextricably linked with concepts such as faith and piety. The Russian soldier could not imagine his life without prayer and church sacraments, he was always ready to stand up to defend his native land and the Orthodox faith.
