Volunteers help Muscovites navigate the mobile vaccination stations in GUM and the Depo food mall, and monitor compliance with social distance and sanitary requirements.

The Vaccination Helpers campaign has been taking place in Moscow since January 18th. During this time, more than five thousand volunteers have joined it. They help doctors of mobile medical teams who vaccinate citizens against coronavirus infection. In total, the volunteers have already accounted for over 30 thousand hours of assistance.

“Moscow volunteers continue to actively help with vaccinations. Their participation and support is important for both doctors and ordinary Muscovites who come for vaccinations. Weekends and holidays for volunteers are an additional opportunity to help. For example, during the May holidays, volunteers were ready to go out every day, and some even took two shifts in a row, “said Dmitry Pokrovsky, director of the Mosvolonter resource center.

Every day, volunteers work in two shifts: from 10:00 to 16:00 and from 15:00 to 21:00. Now volunteers help in two vaccination points – GUM and the Depo food mall. They ask Muscovites who come to receive the vaccine to maintain social distance and use personal protective equipment. Also, volunteers help to navigate the room, suggest where to go to the doctor, where is the treatment room, and where is the rest room.

Employees of the My Documents public service centers help with navigation and filling out documents at all mobile vaccination points. They are also ready to answer questions from residents.

Time to help everyone

Schoolboy Arseniy Babin has recently joined the volunteer community of the capital. The Vaccination Helpers campaign was the first such event for him. For several months Arseniy managed to prove himself and to recommend himself as a responsible and organized volunteer and became a team leader. To date, he has about 96 hours of selfless help.

He takes care not only of visitors, but also of volunteers. Every day Arseniy gathers his team, prepares it for the shift, resolves emerging issues, and also makes sure that the volunteers eat and rest on time.

For college student Galina Ivanova, this action also became the first experience of volunteering. To date, the girl has been taking part in it for more than three months. She has on account about 162 hours of assistance provided to the townspeople.

Despite being busy, Galina was able to successfully combine volunteerism and study. After the end of the school year, she decided to devote more time to selfless help.

“It was not very easy to combine volunteering and study. But the more you do, the more you get there. Every volunteer knows how to find time for what you really want. And I am very glad that now you can volunteer without thinking about exams, ”said Galina.

In order to join the “Vaccination Helpers” campaign, you need to apply for Mosvolonter website… Anyone over 14 years old can become a participant. All volunteers are provided with food, equipment and personal protective equipment, and before leaving for a shift, they undergo mandatory instructions.
