On June 10 – 11, St. Petersburg is hosting the 20th All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation “Ambulance – 2021”.

More than 1.5 thousand scientific and pedagogical workers, doctors, nurses from Russia, as well as countries of near and far abroad took part in it.

The plenary part of the congress discussed the functioning of emergency medical units in the context of the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.

Yulia Shoigu, Director of the Emergency Psychological Aid Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, shared her experience in providing psychological assistance to medical workers in a pandemic.

“In 2020, psychologists of the Russian Emergencies Ministry participated in the work of a hotline to provide psychological assistance to citizens who experienced a number of difficulties with adaptation during the lockdown period. A large number of people were not in difficult or life-threatening conditions – they turned out to be vulnerable in terms of mental health and psychological well-being, ”said Yu. Shoigu.

In addition, a number of regions received requests for assistance to doctors who worked in the “red zone” with adjustment disorder.

“In many ways, it is psychological well-being, mental health that greatly affects the quality of a person’s life,” noted Y. Shoigu.

The conference presented a memo for rescuers and firefighters “How to maintain your own psychological health” and methodological recommendations “Psychological support of specialists with adaptation disorder” developed by specialists of the Center for Emergency Psychological Aid of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
