On June 11, pyrotechnics from the combined squadron from the Leader Center for Special Risk Rescue Operations, the Noginsk and Tula Rescue Centers of the EMERCOM of Russia began to neutralize explosives in the Oleninsky Municipal District of the Tver Region.

Starting from June 1, specialists from the Russian Emergencies Ministry surveyed 7 hectares of territory, where about 100 shells from the Great Patriotic War were found, including artillery shells of various calibers, RGD-33 and F-1 hand grenades, as well as fuses. The discovered explosive objects are transferred to the explosives technicians of the special (explosive) work detachment of the Emergency Rescue Service in the Tver Region for subsequent destruction.

To clear the area, the pyrotechnics use a special Hydrema 910 MCV demining machine. This minesweeper is designed to neutralize anti-personnel or anti-tank mines with explosives weighing up to 10 kilograms. It is able to clear in front of itself a strip up to 3.5 meters wide on dense soil such as roads and access roads.

The group’s specialists come to the territory of the Tver region annually and do large-scale work, thoroughly examining the land plots.

Commentary: Vitaly Oleinikov, head of the demining group.
