A cycle of training events for employees of the educational, psychological and social services of the penitentiary system of the Jewish Autonomous Region is organized in the territorial body of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. The events are held in cooperation with the teachers of the Department of Psychology of the Amur State University named after Sholem Aleichem.
The next meeting concerned work with juvenile suspects, accused and convicted persons, including punishment without isolation from society. Elena Plotnikova, a senior lecturer at a basic university in the region, held a seminar not on the topic: “Projective methods in the psychological correction of the problems of social relations of convicts.” With the workers of the Birobidzhan educational colony, remand prison No. 1 and the penitentiary inspection, the specialist considered theoretical issues, involved students in a practical lesson. The participants tested on themselves such variants of projective methods of practical psychology as metaphorical associative cards, the method of placement, as a way of working with relationship problems, and assessed their effectiveness.
“Close cooperation has been organized between the regional penitentiary service and the university. Experts promote the development of professionally important qualities of employees who directly work with juvenile convicts, – said Maria Kotikova, head of the psychological service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Jewish Autonomous Region. “The joint work being carried out contributes to an increase in the efficiency of the process of correction and resocialization of adolescents.”
As the organizers noted, this activity is aimed at the implementation of events held within the framework of the Decade of Childhood.
