Over the years, the medical workers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry have earned respect among their colleagues, whose profession is to save human lives. More than 3,000 highly qualified specialists work in the structure of the Ministry – these are doctors of the 72nd central polyclinic of the EMERCOM of Russia, employees of health centers and sanatoriums, search and rescue teams and units who are ready to help at any moment, fight for the life and health of people, not sparing no strength, no time.

The day of the medical worker is also celebrated by the staff of the departmental clinical center, which the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia briefly call VTsERM. This is one of the few medical institutions located in St. Petersburg, which has extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) devices and medical personnel who know how to use them. The equipment replaces the work of the lungs and heart, which allows to stabilize the functions of the body and create conditions for the patient’s recovery. The mobile teams of anesthesiologists-resuscitators of VTsERM are the only ones in the country that transport patients connected to the ECMO apparatus, previously considered non-transportable, to any distance.

The ARCERM has 2 clinics with 550 beds, employing about 1,500 medical workers. Among the doctors of the clinical center there are 1 corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 50 doctors of medical sciences, 3 doctors of biological sciences, 140 candidates of medical sciences, 23 honored doctors of the Russian Federation, 4 honored medical workers of the Russian Federation. More than 70% of the medical personnel of VCERM have the highest and first qualification categories.

Saving thousands of human lives in humanitarian operations, including international ones, participation in sanitary and aviation evacuations is one of the main goals of the work of the EMERCOM doctors of Russia.

An airmobile hospital operates as part of the Centrospas detachment. In 2016, he entered the top three of the global registry of emergency medical teams created by the World Health Organization (WHO). This confirms the compliance of the airmobile hospital “Tsentrospas” with international WHO standards and the readiness of specialists to provide qualified medical care in the disaster and catastrophe zones. There are no analogues of the airmobile hospital, so the experience of working with it is being adopted by foreign colleagues.

The work of a medical worker has always been and remains the most noble, demanded and most responsible. People trust them with the most precious thing – life.
