As part of the military-patriotic education of the younger generation, on the basis of the Ulan-Ude Guards Airborne Assault Formation, a four-day internship was held for the students of the military-sports class of the Airborne Forces of the Selenga School No. 2 of the Kabansky District.

The event was attended by 16 children of pre-conscription age.

The mode of residence of schoolchildren was as close as possible to the army. For the entire duration of their internship, a military daily routine was introduced for them. The future conscripts lived in the barracks, ate in the soldiers’ canteen. In addition, the young men had a unique opportunity to communicate with the military officers of the guards unit.

Practical training began with the study of the elements of drill. During the lesson, attention was paid not only to a well-defined step, but also to learning commands.

During the training camp, the guys got acquainted with the elements of fire training. Future defenders of the Fatherland performed initial firing exercises from a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

The military training camp also included tactical training. Students actively studied maps, topographic signs, azimuths, and more. Orientation with the use of a map and a compass aroused the greatest interest among the trainees. Determining the correct scale, comparing the map with the terrain, studying the basic concepts of orientation on the ground, tactics, determining the cardinal points without a compass.

Every morning, the young men went out to exercise, get used to a healthy lifestyle. In addition, the standards for physical training were worked out with each student. All indicators were taken into account according to the standards. The guys passed long and short distance running, long and high jump, complex strength exercise.

As additional theoretical lessons, the children were taught the basics of first aid, as well as issues of RCB-protection. During the training, the young men worked out the standards for putting on a gas mask and a combined-arms protective suit.

A tour of the museum and the educational building of the brigade was conducted for the young guests. The cadets were able to train at the airborne complex intended for training paratroopers.

As a result of the internship, all participants were awarded with diplomas, and the most distinguished by the command of the Guards unit of the Airborne Forces were awarded medals “For Excellent Service”.
