The competition took place over 4 days. They were attended by 20 teams from the region’s correctional institutions.

As the deputy head of the GUFSIN Yevgeny Romanov noted, the training camps were held at a high level and not only identified the best cynologists with service dogs, but also made it possible to improve the degree of training of dogs, increase the level of professional skill of cynologists and determine a candidate for participation of the GUFSIN in competitions at the federal level.

It was an employee of IK-50 Sergey Petruchenya with a service dog – a shepherd dog named “Thunder”. The dog handler with the dog won the first place in the individual standings in the search profile, became the best in the “General course of training” and “Detention, escorting and protection of a dog handler”.

The event was attended by the chairman of the board of the Kemerovo city branch of the Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans, the chairman of the executive committee of the Kemerovo branch of the Combat Brotherhood Igor Polyansky and his deputy, veteran of the UIS Dmitry Lebedev.

The competition consisted of several stages, among which was a general training course, which included walking a service dog “near”, controlling the dog at a distance (commands “sit”, “lie down”, “stand”), delivering objects by four-legged pets, stopping undesirable actions – team “Fu!” and approach to the trainer.

The judging team included: Irina Shumskikh, a specialist in the cynological direction of the Kuzbass LU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a senior lecturer at the Department of Breeding and Genetics in Animal Breeding, in the direction of cynology of the KGSKhA, Igor Morozov, and the heads and employees of the cynological departments of the Kuzbass Penitentiary Institutions.

According to Vladimir Polev, head of the canine service of the GUFSIN, the canine units of the GUFSIN make a great contribution to ensuring law and order in the region’s correctional institutions.

Specialists – cynologists in the UIS system train service dogs for guarding, patrolling the internal restricted areas of correctional institutions, pre-trial detention centers, escorting convicts, searching vehicles at checkpoints of institutions, searching for and detecting explosives, firearms and drugs, as well as searching and detaining persons who escaped from protection, participate in preventive measures.

In the team competition, the places were distributed as follows:

1st place was taken by the team of IK-1 (Mariinsk);

2nd place for specialists – dog handlers from IK-50 (Yurga);

3rd place for the IK-41 team (Yurga).

Winners and prize-winners were awarded letters of thanks, gifts, certificates and cups.
