On June 22 at 12:00, on the day of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, a memorial action dedicated to the Day of Memory and Mourning will begin at the main entrance to the Officers’ House of the Western Military District.

The action will begin with a church prayer service dedicated to the memory of those who died at the fronts, in the territories occupied by the Germans, in concentration camps, in besieged Leningrad. Interactive zones will be located along the facade of the Officers’ House: a museum exhibition with unique exhibits from the beginning of the war, a real border post and a rare Maxim machine gun, an exhibition of posters, newspapers and books published in 1941-1943. (located in the lower foyer), in the posters of the House of Officers, you can see rare posters of the beginning of the war.

On the steps of the main entrance, the honorary Memory Watch will be carried by reenactors in military uniform of the beginning of the war and cadets of the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy.

Everyone walking along Liteiny Prospekt on this day will be able to join the action and share their thoughts and feelings about the tragic beginning of the war in the Book of Memory.
