Today the dog handlers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Yaroslavl Region celebrate their professional holiday. On the eve of the Day of Cynological Service on the basis of correctional colony No. 12 of the regional UFSIN, the annual All-round Competition of specialists-cynologists with service dogs among the security and escort units has come to an end.

The championship has the character of a personal competition, in which specialists-cynologists from all divisions of the penitentiary system of the Yaroslavl region compete and exchange experience in the preparation and use of service dogs. 11 participants fought for the title of the strongest.

– The all-around championship among dog handlers with service dogs is held in three disciplines: “Search profile”, “Search and detection of drugs”, “Search and detection of explosives”. Dog handlers participate in all disciplines with their four-legged assistants, who are used daily in guards for the protection of correctional institutions, as well as in guards for the protection of convicts and persons held in custody at exchange offices, ” said the head of the canine service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Yaroslavl Region, Lieutenant Colonel of the Internal Service Elena Viktorova.

For several days, specialists competed in working out various standards with the use of service dogs, demonstrating a high level of professional skill and a degree of training.

In the “Obedience” standard, the canine crew demonstrated teamwork and the level of training of a service dog. The most obedient turned out to be a German shepherd named “Yuji”, who successfully fulfilled all the commands of her mentor, dog handler, SIZO-2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Yaroslavl Region, Warrant Officer of the Internal Service Natalya Molyavina.

In the “Obstacle course” standard, dog handlers with their service dogs overcame the obstacle course for a while (picket fence, 2 meter fence, ladder, boom, trench). The four-legged assistants demonstrated not only their physical fitness and courage, but also their absolute submission to humans. The winner of the competition was a service dog named “Fox” of the senior instructor – dog handler of SIZO-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Yaroslavl Region, Warrant Officer of the Internal Service Maxim Ivanov.

In the discipline “Search profile” such exercises as “sampling a person”, “sampling things”, “working out the smell trace”, “search of an object”, “search of vehicles”, “security guard service”, “search of the area”, ” general course of training “. A professionally trained dog should be able to stop a person running and waving away from it with improvised objects.

Competitions among special dogs “for searching and detecting narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors”, as well as among special dogs “for searching for explosives, explosive devices, weapons and ammunition” aroused great interest among those present. The search was carried out in an open area, in conditional hand luggage when simulating the situation of inspection of luggage, searching for drugs and explosives in the car and indoors.

The best specialist in the search for narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors was the senior instructor of the canine group of SIZO-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Yaroslavl Region, ensign of the internal service Anna Lonchakova with a special drug search dog named “Gamma”.

In the competition for the search for explosives, explosive devices, weapons and ammunition, there was no equal to the senior instructor-dog handler of the department for escorting the regional Federal Penitentiary Service, senior warrant officer of the internal service Albert Kopkov with a special dog for searching and detecting explosives named “Wolf”.

For their diligence and training of service dogs, the participants who won prizes were awarded cups, medals, diplomas and gifts.

In the discipline “Investigative Profile” the places were distributed as follows:

1st place was taken by the senior instructor – dog handler of the correctional colony No. 1 Warrant Officer of the Internal Service Dmitry Karataev with a service dog named “Gadget”

2nd place was taken by the instructor – cinematographer of SIZO-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Warrant Officer of the Internal Service Maxim Ivanov with a service dog named “Fox”,

The 3rd place was taken by the instructor-cinematologist of SIZO-2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service, warrant officer of the internal service Natalya Molyavina with a service dog named “Yuji”.

At the end of the event, the head of the department for the organization of the security service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Yaroslavl Region, Colonel of the Internal Service, Ivan Zuev, congratulated all those present on their professional holiday, expressed sincere gratitude for their conscientious service, high professionalism, courage and honest work. I wished him good health, good spirits, confidence in the future, patience, optimism, and prosperity. He also presented to the employees who distinguished themselves in their professional activities with the jubilee sign “110 years of the canine service of the UIS”.
