In Kamchatka, the military personnel of the Pacific Fleet took part in memorial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

At noon Kamchatka time, the main events dedicated to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War were held in the Victory Park of the regional capital. The mourning rally was attended by representatives of the legislative and executive branches of power of the region and the city, servicemen of the Pacific Fleet and representatives of power structures, residents and guests of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. A special place was occupied by veterans – participants of the Kuril landing. All speakers noted the contribution of the Soviet people to the cause of the Great Victory and expressed their deep gratitude to those who fought and defeated the enemy. Those present honored the memory of those killed on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.

The participants of the memorial meeting laid a wreath and fresh flowers at the obelisk, accompanied by volleys of fireworks. The laying ceremony ended with a solemn passage of a company of the Guard of Honor of the Troops and Forces in the North-East of Russia.

In the evening, servicemen of the OKVS airbase will take part in the Rays of Victory action, during which they will illuminate the night sky from the area of ​​the City of Military Glory stela of the regional center.
