Servicemen of the Russian military base in Tajikistan took part in the unveiling of the restored monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union Guard Senior Sergeant Safar Amirshoev.

In the village of Dagan, which is located 20 kilometers from Kulyab, a rally was held at which the acting deputy commander of the Russian unit, Major Ruslan Besedin, awarded local residents and members of the “Battle Brotherhood” patriotic movement who took part in the restoration of the Hero’s bust with commemorative medals and certificates. The organizers of the rally thanked the Russian servicemen for participating in the event to preserve the memory of the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War.

The gun commander of the 213rd Guards Howitzer Artillery Regiment of the Guards Senior Sergeant Safar Amirshoev distinguished himself on June 16, 1944. During the battle with the German tanks that broke through, he was the first to deploy the howitzer and knock out the head armored vehicle. During the fierce battle, all the soldiers of the crew were wounded. Safar Amirshoev himself received two wounds, but was able to knock out two more tanks and died.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, senior sergeant Amirshoev Safar was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the exemplary performance of combat missions at the front in the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism of the guards displayed at the same time.
