Servicemen of the mobile detachments of the Russian Ministry of Defense to assist in the elimination of the consequences of an emergency in Crimea, using special engineering equipment, have strengthened a temporary dam in the resort of Yalta at the most dangerous section of the mudflow breakthrough caused by heavy rainfall.
Up to 40 servicemen and up to 20 units of special military equipment, including excavators and bulldozers, which are in service with the units of the engineering troops of the Southern Military District, were involved in the task.
The servicemen of the Russian Ministry of Defense have cleared over 52 thousand square meters of streets, private yards, residential buildings and social infrastructure from the consequences of a rain flood in the Republic of Crimea, removed more than 370 tons of garbage, and delivered over 264 cubic meters of drinking water to the civilian population.
On the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, gave instructions on building up the group involved in providing assistance to the residents of the Republic of Crimea affected by the emergency caused by prolonged precipitation.
To provide assistance to the population of the peninsula from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, about 21.5 thousand people and 1367 units of automobile and special equipment are involved. Relief work with the participation of military personnel has been deployed in 36 flood-affected communities.
Mobile detachments of the Russian Ministry of Defense carry out tasks to eliminate the consequences of an emergency situation caused by heavy rainfall in Crimea, in cooperation with the interdepartmental operational headquarters for eliminating the consequences of an emergency, created by the authorities of the peninsula.
