Tank crews of the motorized rifle division of the army corps of the Baltic Fleet at the Army training ground on T-72B3M tanks started practicing the Tank Carousel tactics at night.

The new method implements complex tasks for the crew. In particular, the maximum range of firing from a 125-mm tank cannon has been increased by 200 meters – up to 2.2 thousand meters. By reducing the time for showing targets, the rate of fire also increases.

During the exercise, the tank crews continuously fire at targets imitating the enemy’s heavy equipment from a standstill during frontal and flanking movements within a single run along the route.

The dynamically changing tactical and target environment develops the crew’s operational response and the ability to act outside the box when solving a combat mission.

About 100 tankers take part in the stage of night combat firing, 30 T-72B3M tanks are involved.

For reference:

The “Tank carousel” method is that while the first tank is firing from a standstill, the second is loading ammunition. When advancing the first tank for flanking firing, the second takes up a position for firing from a place. In this case, the shooting sectors, the sequence of raising the targets and the distance to them are not known to the tank crew in advance.
