Over 2.5 billion rubles will be additionally allocated to the Omsk Region to complete the construction of the Arena multifunctional sports complex. This order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The new complex will open in 2022. It will host ice hockey, sledge hockey, figure skating and short track competitions. Among the upcoming major events is the World Junior Hockey Championship, which will take place in 2023.

In 2020, more than 2.4 billion rubles were allocated from the Government’s reserve fund to co-finance the construction of the arena. The decision to allocate additional funding was announced by Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers on June 21. “It is necessary to do everything to ensure that the major international tournament is held at the highest level,” the head of government noted.

The work is carried out within the framework of the state program “Development of physical culture and sports”.
