On the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, gave instructions on building up the group involved in providing assistance to the residents of the Republic of Crimea affected by the emergency caused by prolonged precipitation.

To provide assistance to the population of the peninsula from the military department involved about 21 thousand people and 1367 units of automobile and special equipment.

Relief work with the participation of military personnel has been deployed in 36 flood-affected communities.

As part of the mobile detachments of the Russian Ministry of Defense, special engineering equipment is used to clear debris and mudflows, tank cars for the supply of drinking water, heavy-duty off-road vehicles for transporting citizens’ belongings, building materials and essential goods. At the request of local administrations, field kitchens have been deployed in settlements and mobile food points have been set up.

Servicemen clear rubble, help clean up households, transport residents’ personal belongings, collect and remove washed soil, evacuate vehicles from damaged streets, and supply drinking water and basic necessities.

Mobile detachments of the Russian Ministry of Defense carry out tasks to eliminate the consequences of an emergency caused by heavy rainfall in Crimea, in cooperation with the interdepartmental operational headquarters for eliminating the consequences of an emergency, created by the authorities of the peninsula.
