At the passenger berths of the Moskva River, work has begun on cleaning and deepening the bottom of the water areas, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government Peter Biryukov.
“Until mid-July, we plan to clean 32 berths, for the smooth operation of shipping, events are held on weekdays in the morning,” he said.
The work must be carried out so that large household waste and scrap metal at the bottom of the river does not damage the passing motor ships. Before starting cleaning, divers inspect the bottom.
“The work is being carried out from a barge equipped with a crane for removing large household waste,” said Pyotr Biryukov. “A vessel equipped with a special bucket for lifting soil and silt sediments on board is involved in more complex bottom dredging operations.”
Objects and debris taken from the bottom are transferred to the shore and disposed of. The bottom soil is dried in containers and taken to a special landfill.
