On June 22-24, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) Demeke Mekonnen will pay a working visit to the Russian Federation. On June 23 he will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

We note with satisfaction the ongoing development of the Russian-Ethiopian political dialogue, the constructive interaction of our countries within the UN and other international organizations. The Russian Federation and Ethiopia are actively promoting the formation of a polycentric world order as a fair and secure system of international relations.

During the upcoming talks, key areas of Russian-Ethiopian cooperation in various fields will be considered, including the promotion of promising mutually beneficial projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure and agriculture. Further steps will be determined to strengthen the bilateral legal framework.

It is planned to discuss a number of significant topics of the current global and regional agenda, problems of resolving crisis situations on the African continent, the situation in the Horn of Africa region. The issues of preparation for the second Russia-Africa summit in 2022 will also be discussed.

We presume that the visit of the Foreign Minister of Ethiopia will give a new impetus to joint work to unlock the existing solid potential of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
