Servicemen of the Leningrad naval base of the Western Military District held the “Candle of Memory” event in the city of military glory of Kronstadt.

On Anchor Square, in front of the main shrine of the Navy of the Naval Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, hundreds of candles were lit and flowers were laid.

At 17:00, a fire was solemnly brought into the temple, lit from the lamp of the main icon “Savior Not Made by Hands” of the Main Temple of the Armed Forces.

A memorable meeting was also held on the square. The event was attended by representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of the city, military personnel, residents of the city. A special place was occupied by veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War, residents of besieged Leningrad. All speakers noted the contribution of the Soviet people to the Great Victory and expressed their deep gratitude to our veterans.

At the end of the solemn part, the servicemen of the Leningrad naval base laid wreaths and flowers at the obelisk under gunfire. The rest of those present honored the memory of those killed in that terrible war with a minute of silence and laid fresh flowers.
