A military-historical reconstruction of the events of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War took place in the open-air museum “Pobedy Pobedy” in Kubinka near Moscow. The reconstruction covered a number of episodes of the initial period of the war (from June 22 to mid-July 1941).

It is based on documentary sources from the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The organization and implementation of the reconstruction was attended by 250 people, including servicemen of the Military University and representatives of the military history clubs of Russia.

In particular, defensive operations were recreated at the outposts of the Belarusian Border District on June 22, 1941, when Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union.

The reconstruction was carried out under the leadership of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces.

“The importance of reconstruction lies in the fact that in the year of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, we must remember those people who, at the cost of their lives, allowed us, our children, to live today. The memory of this should be passed on from generation to generation, as it has always been in Russia, ”said Colonel Alexander Makklachkov, head of the department of history of wars and military art of the Military University of the RF Ministry of Defense, at the end of the event.
