The day before, on June 21, an hour before midnight at the Glory Memorial in Barnaul, “Candles of Memory” were lit – as a sign of deep respect for the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The participants laid flowers on the central monument – to the Farewell sculptural group, to the monument with the names of Barnaul residents – full holders of the Order of Glory and Heroes of the Soviet Union, as well as to the names of the fallen soldiers of the Altai Territory placed on the walls of a symbolic concrete redoubt.

In the morning, a ceremony of laying flowers at the Glory Memorial took place.
