“June 22 is the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. This date is intended to remind of the beginning of the war, which claimed millions of lives. Veterans grieve on this day, their relatives – children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who do not forget the feat accomplished by their ancestors. Every year, the personnel of the Federal Penitentiary Service consider it our duty to honor the memory of all those who have not returned home since that war. Today is in the soul of every person who seeks to preserve the memory of the heroes. First of all, these are veterans who took part in bloody battles. They are living witnesses of the past tragedy. This date is also celebrated by the relatives of those who did not return from the battlefield, activists, youth organizations and movements. The number of veterans is decreasing, but the memory of their feat is always in the hearts of people. We honor … We remember … We are proud … ”- said the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Vladimir Moravets.
