Specialists of the medical unit of the mountain motorized rifle brigade of the Southern Military District (YuVO), stationed in Karachay-Cherkessia, conducted practical exercises with servicemen of the spring conscription to provide first aid for bites of snakes, insects and other animals.

The servicemen were told about the types of snakes, insects and animals that live in the region; about the periods and places of their activity; about precautions. The recruits were trained to recognize the signs and symptoms of snake bites and dangerous insects. They mastered the methods of applying splints and bandages, learned cardiopulmonary resuscitation, indirect (closed) heart massage, and artificial ventilation of the lungs. The conscripts worked out the sequence of first aid on special simulators.

In the classroom, various means of medical care were used, such as a DFR-02 defibrillator, a device for monitoring vital activity parameters of the MPR “Triton”, a vacuum immobilizing mattress “Cocoon”, which is part of a special backpack RS-05.

The classes were held to train recruits in the provision of operational first aid, the use of complete-standard equipment and special equipment of the medical service. In total, about 200 servicemen of the Southern Military District took part in the events.
