During a field trip at the Dzartsemi training ground, tankmen of the Russian military base of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District (YuVO), stationed in South Ossetia, carried out live firing using night vision devices.

The crews of the T-72B tanks operated in the absence of natural light, using night vision devices and sights. The servicemen complied with the standards for firepower training, including firing with a regular projectile, destroying the tanks of the imaginary enemy at a distance of about 1.5 km. Firing from machine guns, the tankers destroyed artillery mounts at a distance of 700 m, and at a distance of 400 to 600 m – the manpower of a conventional enemy.

The next stage of the tankers’ combat training will be their participation in bilateral company tactical exercises as part of various units of the Russian military base of the Southern Military District.

More than 100 servicemen of the Southern Military District took part in the event, about 30 units of military equipment were involved. When conducting live firing, the crews of armored vehicles used up about 200 tank shells.
