The anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Central Military District (CVO), stationed in the Irkutsk Region, will complete rearmament with the modernized S-300PM-2 Favorit air defense systems by the end of the year.

The arrival of the modernized air defense systems will significantly expand the combat capabilities of the anti-aircraft missile regiment to cover the airspace in Eastern Siberia. The range of detection and destruction of S-300PM-2 Favorit targets is 1.5 times higher compared to the earlier modification of the system, the number of simultaneously guided missiles and the number of targets fired has increased several times.

Earlier, the commander of the Central Military District’s waxes, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, reported that the rearmament of the district’s troops with the latest air defense systems and systems made it possible to increase the range of destruction of an air enemy by 2.5 times, and the number of destroyed air targets by 3 times.

The Central Military District is deployed on the territory of 29 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The district structurally includes a number of foreign objects: the 201st military base on the territory of Tajikistan, the united military base in Kyrgyzstan, as well as units on the territory of Kazakhstan.
