On the Day of Remembrance and Mourning, employees and veterans of the institute took part in a solemn event in honor of the opening of a memorial plaque to Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Nikolaevich Strobykin-Yukhvit on the territory of secondary school No. 10 named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky, Kirov, and also lit dozens of candles in memory in the City Club of Veterans.
From 1939 to 1940 Nikolai Nikolaevich Strobykina-Yukhvit, as an instructor-pilot of the Kirov flying club, taught cadets to fly on a U-2 aircraft. In August 1943, as part of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, the Great Patriotic War began for him. The young pilot arrived at the 190 Guards Air Assault Regiment, on August 17, 1943, during a combat mission, he discovered an enemy anti-aircraft artillery battery and suppressed it from four approaches.
The honorary right to open the plaque was given to the veteran of the institute, Vasily Galak, who, together with the head of the city, Elena Kovaleva, removed the curtain from the memorial plaque.
“Dear guests, teachers, students, on behalf of the veterans of the Kirov aeroclub and the Veteran organization of the Kirov IPKR of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, let me congratulate you on this significant event. You can be proud that a graduate of School No. 10 during the Great Patriotic War became a Hero of the Soviet Union. We, veterans, are also proud of the graduates of the Kirov aeroclub, and they have 8 heroes, so on behalf of the veterans, let me wish you all good health, success in your studies on this memorable day, so that you become real defenders of the Fatherland, all the best! ” – the veteran of the institute Vasily Petrovich Galak congratulated those present.
It is worth noting that Vasily Petrovich has been with the flying club for almost 50 years.
Also on a memorable day in the City Club of Veterans, the leadership and veterans of the institute honored the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.
More than 100 people took part in the action “Light the Candle of Memory”, including veterans of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, children of war, social activists, volunteers, youth soldiers, representatives of regional authorities. All those present bowed their heads in front of millions of our fellow citizens who did not see the Victory, but brought it closer as best they could.
Creative teams performed in front of those gathered in the City Club of veterans who performed songs and poems filled with the memory of the horrific events of that time and the incredible feat of our ancestors, children presented the veterans with their drawings illustrating the return of soldiers home from the front, festive fireworks in honor of May 9 and heaven today.
At the end of the ceremony, the anthem of the great, undefeated, free country sounded. Paying military honors to all the fallen soldiers, the participants of the event laid out the date 1941 from the candles.
