The renovated Sofia cinema is being prepared for commissioning. It is located at the address: Sirenevy Boulevard, 31. The main construction and installation work has already been completed, the head of the capital Department of Urban Development Policy Sergey Levkin.

“The old Soviet cinema has turned into a multifunctional public center within walking distance. During the reconstruction, the building was rebuilt – with the expansion and replacement of load-bearing building structures, ”said the head of the department.

He also added that the area of ​​the cinema has increased from 57.55 to 65.61 thousand square meters. The building has four overground and two underground floors, one of which will house a parking lot for 276 cars.

The new multifunctional center will have a modern 10-screen cinema complex with a total capacity of 1320 seats, 20 seats will be equipped for visitors with limited mobility. In the summer, one of the cinemas will be open on the roof of the renovated Sofia.

A supermarket and shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as an entertainment and educational center for children and adults will open for visitors to the center. The cinema will have a recognizable sign from its usual look, but it will be made of modern materials.

It is planned that the cinema will be commissioned and open to guests this year.

The investor was chosen as a result of the auction, “Sofia” and 38 more cinema buildings were transferred to private ownership for subsequent reconstruction.

“To date, eight cinemas – Angara, Elbrus, Budapest, Neva, Rassvet, Mars, Vysota and Sayany – have already been reconstructed: they have become public centers within walking distance from preserving the function of film screening, ”said Sergei Levkin.
