On June 26 at 15:00 in Vladikavkaz, in the garrison House of Officers of the Southern Military District (YuVO), a solemn opening ceremony of the mobile exhibition of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO) will take place.

The exposition contains samples brought from expeditions; artifacts, documents from the RGS archive on the contribution of representatives of society to the study of the European part of Russia, the Urals, Siberia, the Far East, polar territories and other regions, as well as materials about outstanding researchers who have collected unique cartographic, geological and botanical collections.

A special place at the exhibition is occupied by the multimedia pavilion about the BK-31 armored boat, as well as artifacts from the First World War and the Great Patriotic War, raised by the specialists of the Center for Underwater Research of the Russian Geographical Society from the bottom of the Gulf of Finland, having the status of “Object of archaeological heritage”. Also included in the mobile exposition is the section “Keeping the Family Warm”, dedicated to the wives of Soviet commanders and military leaders. It was based on previously not exhibited family photos and memories.

In the south of Russia, the exposition has already been presented in Rostov-on-Don, Sevastopol and Novorossiysk. After Vladikavkaz, the exhibition will go to Kaspiysk. The project is aimed at popularizing the natural, historical and cultural heritage of our country.
