The crews of the Ka-27 naval anti-submarine helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation within the framework of a planned tactical flight exercise (LTU) worked out the search, tracking and destruction of a simulated enemy submarine in the Baltic Sea.

The “enemy” submarine was the diesel-electric submarine “Volkhov”, which is currently performing missions at sea.

The flights and practical bombing were carried out along the established route over the water area of the sea range of the Baltic Fleet. More than 10 Ka-27 and Ka-27M helicopters were involved in them.

On the eve of the flight, the crews of the Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters of the mixed helicopter regiment of the Baltic Fleet’s naval aviation unit, within the framework of the LTU, launched a missile strike at targets at the air range in the Kaliningrad region.

More than 20 crews of Mi-24 and Mi-8 attack and military transport helicopters, as well as ship Ka-27 and Ka-27PS helicopters take part in the planned exercise of the mixed helicopter regiment of the naval aviation unit.

Within the framework of LTU, crews search for imaginary enemy submarines using lowered sonar stations, launch unguided aircraft missiles of various classes, fire helicopter gunships, drop torpedoes and bombs weighing from 100 to 500 kg, practice maneuvering elements during air combat, and also approaching targets in conditions of the use of electronic suppression by the “enemy”.

All combat training missions are performed by naval aviation pilots both in the daytime and at night.
