In the Volgograd region, at the Prudboy combined-arms training ground, the crews of the T-72B3 tanks of the motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District (YuVO) from the Rostov region began to study underwater driving.

Tankers overcome water obstacles about 100 m long, moving along the bottom of the reservoir at a depth of 5 m. Driver mechanics in conditions of zero visibility are forced to navigate by instruments.

Before diving, all servicemen are equipped with individual emergency rescue equipment, and are receiving self-contained breathing apparatus IP-5. These means are designed for free ascent or gradual rise to the surface of the water during the evacuation of the crew in the event of emergency situations.

Before getting admission to underwater driving, tankers undergo diving training, fulfilling the standards on a special flooded model of the training complex tank.

In the summer period of training at the Prudboy training ground, more than 600 tankers of formations and military units of the Southern Military District will receive the practice of underwater driving on the T-72B3 and T-90A tanks.
