June 29 in Matera (Italy) Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation A.A. Pankin will take part in the first pandemic coronavirus face-to-face meeting of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the countries G20… In the afternoon, they will be joined by the ministers for international development assistance of this representative international economic forum. The format of joint meetings was first introduced into the G20 agenda at the initiative of the Italian presidency.

This year’s debate will be guided by five priorities: (1) multilateral diplomacy, (2) global governance, (3) promoting sustainable development in Africa, (4) food security and (5) achieving zero hunger. The ministers will pay special attention to preventing the pandemic from escalating into a food crisis and vaccine protectionism based on the voluntary transfer of technology and know-how, the implementation of international initiatives and their funding.

The G20 countries intend to make an active contribution to collective and effective solutions to improve preparedness to respond to global challenges, including the coronavirus pandemic, the transition to balanced and sustainable economic growth, restart World Trade Organization (WTO), modernization under its umbrella of universal trade rules, further reform of quotas and a fair distribution of votes in International Monetary Fund (IMF), removal of sanctions, illegal trade barriers, the introduction of green corridors in the supply of vaccines and related goods.

The upcoming meetings will be a continuation of the regular and constructive dialogue of the G20 ministers.
