In the Bashmakovsky district of the Penza region, the remains of a soldier of the 22nd mechanized corps, Alexander Nikolaevich Korshunov, were reburied with honors. The ceremony of reburial of the remains of the Red Army soldier was held at the cemetery in the village of Pominaevka with military honors and weapons salute.

During the Great Patriotic War, Alexander Nikolaevich Korshunov beat the German fascist invaders in Ukraine. According to information about the irretrievable losses of the 22nd mechanized corps, he is listed as missing after a battle in the Malininsky district of the Zhitomir region of the Ukrainian SSR in 1941. The remains were found by the search engines of the Serdobsk search group “Azimut 58” in Ukraine and returned to their homeland.

The mourning ceremony was attended by representatives of the Penza region and the military commissariat of the region, servicemen of the Penza branch of the military academy of MTO, relatives of the front-line soldier, youth soldiers and villagers.
