Pilots of combat helicopters of the Air Force and Air Defense Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation completed the mountain training camp, which took place on the territory of the Southern Military District (YuVO) at the training center in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The training of the Ka-52 Alligator and Mi-8AMTSh Terminator helicopter crews for flights in difficult mountain conditions took place in the area of ​​Mount Elbrus.

During the assembly, the helicopter pilots mastered flying around mountain slopes, passing gorges and overcoming passes at altitudes from 1500 to 4000 m. The flights took place day and night, including in adverse weather conditions. In the dark, the servicemen used night vision goggles.

Particular attention was paid to instrument orientation, as well as methods of effective and accurate firing from the standard armament of helicopters in mountainous terrain.

More than 100 military personnel took part in the training session, about 10 army aviation helicopters were involved. Based on the results of the training, the pilots received admission to perform missions in high altitude conditions and confirmed their flying qualifications.
