For the first time, within the framework of tactics and fire training classes, mortarmen of a motorized rifle unit of the army corps of the Baltic Fleet used a tactic called “nomadic” mortars.

From the guns installed in the bodies of KamAZ vehicles, artillery crews fired volleys at unobserved targets located behind natural barriers – hills and forest belts.

In a wooded and swampy terrain at the Pravdinsky training ground in the Kaliningrad region, in a short period of time, mortarmen hit over 30 targets imitating armored vehicles, manpower and enemy positions at a distance of 700 to 2500 meters.

Classes were held in the daytime and at night. Correction of fire and control of target destruction was carried out by standard calculations of unmanned aircraft complexes.

The tactics of “nomadic” mortars are used in the course of combat training of artillerymen of the Western Military District. The experience of modern armed conflicts allows gun crews to instantly repel attacks from superior enemy forces and quickly change firing positions within the framework of counter-battery warfare.
