As part of the tactical flight exercise of the mixed helicopter regiment of the Baltic naval aviation formation, more than 20 crews, attack, transport-combat and ship helicopters Mi-24, Mi-8 and Ka-27 performed missile launches and bombing. In the course of combat use, the crews, having overcome the air defense system, fired 250 guided and unguided aircraft missiles of various classes, dropped over 50 bombs weighing from 100 to 500 kg, and also fired more than one and a half thousand 30-mm shells from air cannons at various targets at ranges in the Kaliningrad region.

The pilots made more than 50 sorties, during which about 15 tactical episodes were played out to work out tasks for their intended purpose – fire support of ground units, the destruction of command posts, armored vehicles and manpower of a simulated enemy, aerial reconnaissance and the destruction of air targets, the search and destruction of underwater boats of the conditional enemy. In addition, the helicopter pilots worked out the elements of maneuvering during air combat, as well as approaching targets in conditions of the use of electronic suppression by the “enemy”, landing on the decks of aircraft carrying ships of the fleet.
