According to the minister, he sees in this award an assessment not only of his work, but also recognition of the results of joint activities aimed at developing the region, ensuring its well-being and the safety of residents.
He especially noted the contribution of Tula gunsmiths to national security.
The title “Honorary Citizen of the Tula Region” is awarded annually to no more than three citizens of the Russian Federation.
Among the previously awarded are the famous weapons designers Nikolai Makarovets, Arkady Shipunov, the first Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Vyacheslav Vedenin, the curator of the Polenovo Museum-Reserve Natalya Gramolina, academician Valery Legasov and others.
