Over 851.8 million rubles will be additionally allocated to Mordovia to complete the construction of a universal sports hall in Saransk. The order on the allocation of these funds from the reserve fund was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The new multifunctional sports complex will include a transforming ice arena, choreographic and gymnastics halls. It will host competitions in figure skating, ice hockey, basketball, volleyball, mini-football, tennis, and boxing. The arena will be able to accommodate over 7 thousand spectators.

The construction of the universal sports hall in Saransk began in 2011, but the completion date was repeatedly postponed. Now the readiness of the facility is 84%. The opening is scheduled for 2021.

In past years, more than 3 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget for the construction of the complex. The issue of allocating additional funding from the Government’s reserve fund was approved at meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 24.

The work is carried out within the state program “Development of physical culture and sports”.One of its main tasks is to increase the number of sports facilities, as well as the number of citizens who systematically go in for sports and physical education.
