A memorial plaque dedicated to the pupil of the Kirov aeroclub OSOAVIAKHIM Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Strobykin-Yukhvit was installed on the building of the Kirov school number 10. The opening ceremony of the board took place on the Day of Memory and Mourning and was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the hero’s birth and the 85th anniversary of the Kirov flying club.

The future flight commander of the 190th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the 12th Guards Assault Aviation Division of the 3rd Guards Assault Aviation Corps of the 5th Air Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, Guard Senior Lieutenant Strobykin-Yukhvit was born on the Vyatka land in the city of Urzhum. He graduated from nine classes of the Kirov school number 10 and the flying club, was an instructor, taught young pilots. In 1941 he graduated from the Kherson military aviation school of pilots. In the battles of the Great Patriotic War since August 1943.

During the war, the pilot Strobykin-Yukhvit flew 129 sorties in the Il-2 attack aircraft. For feats of arms, he was awarded the Order of Lenin, 3 Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the 1st degree of the Patriotic War, the Red Star, and medals. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 15, 1946, for courage and heroism shown in air battles with the Nazi invaders, the guard senior lieutenant N.N. Strobykin-Yukhvit was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (2876).

In 1945, he graduated from the Higher Advanced Courses for Officers, in 1951 – from the Air Force Academy. Since 1963, Colonel N.N. Strobykin-Yukhvit is in reserve, and the hero died in August 1995.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Urzhum region – the head of the municipality V. Bayborodov and the niece of the hero V. Gabbasov.

The cover from the memorial plaque was removed by the head of the city of Kirov E. Kovaleva and a veteran of the Kirov aeroclub, a member of DOSAAF since 1964, colonel, holder of the Order of the Red Star, master of sports in airplane sports V. Galak. In their speeches, they, like Lieutenant Colonel A. Cherepanov, noted the importance of this event for Kirov and the region, and the chairman of the regional branch of DOSAAF Y. Rybkin emphasized that the perpetuation of the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland is an important part of the activities of the regional defense organization.
