In Germany, in the commune of Elsnigk, after repair and restoration work, the burial of prisoners of war from the Second World War was opened.

The commemorative ceremony was attended by employees of the Embassy and the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Defense (for organizing and conducting military memorial work abroad) in Germany, as well as burgomasters of the Osternienburger Land and Elsnigk communities, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Sports of Saxony-Anhalt, the People’s Union of Germany Saxony-Anhalt and the Parish Church Council.

The old memorial stone, due to its texture and dilapidation, was not subject to restoration. During the repair and restoration work carried out in 2020 at the expense of the Federal Republic of Germany, the monument was recreated in its historical form, but already in red granite. The names of the buried with the indication of the dates of their lives are again immortalized in stone.
